What the van brings

Everything to dry a house, on the first trip

The van is a drying kit on wheels. The gear comes off at the curb and goes to work the same visit.

  • Extraction hoses and pumpsStanding water comes out first, from carpet, tile and pad.
  • Air moversBlow across wet floors and walls so the water leaves the surface fast.
  • DehumidifiersPull that water out of the air so the room keeps drying overnight.
  • Moisture meterFinds the wet you cannot see and proves when a wall or floor is dry.
  • Containment and protectionPlastic, floor guards and corner guards keep the rest of the house clean.

Before anyone arrives

The first fifteen minutes

These five steps limit the damage.

  1. Shut the water. Close the main valve, or the fixture valve if the leak is right there.
  2. Stay clear of power. Never step into water to reach a breaker.
  3. Take photos first. Wide shots, then the water line on walls and furniture.
  4. Lift what you can. Rugs, boxes, cords and anything with wood legs.
  5. Call or text. Drying should start within 24 to 48 hours, as EPA advises.

Why water damage here is its own thing

Las Vegas is dry, hot and hard on plumbing. The air helps a wet room dry out, yet monsoon storms in July and August can push runoff through doors and roofs, and very hard water wears out heaters, valves and supply lines.
